This is one of my favorite quotes. So simple yet SOOOOO IMPACTFUL! As someone who journals regularly, I am always amazed at the end of the year when I read over the words I have written I see many patterns. Of course on the day I am writing them it feels like I am having the experience for the very first time. We are all guilty of these patterns. We continue to bitch and complain about the same things over and over but expecting new results. You do know this is the EXACT definition of insanity:
This is true in my home life, my business and in my personal health and overall well being. I continue to choose foods that I love when I know they will keep me heavier than I would like to be. I then get sick of “buying a bigger size and loving myself as is” and start yet another fad diet. As soon as the weight comes off I say “oh thank God I really miss pizza, pasta, bagels and chips”. You get the picture.
Change has to stick. We have to behave differently to get different results. We can’t wish ourselves thin, more successful or happier. We have to choose doing the hard things that are always the most uncomfortable to reach our goals and experience the power of true change.
As humans we love feeling safe and comfortable. This gives us a false sense of caution as the feeling of discomfort of trying something new can be disguised as a gut reaction to feeling danger and telling us not to move forward.
Getting past the fear and uncertainty can lead to so many amazing experiences if we just push ourselves a little bit even when every part of our body is saying “HELL NO”.
This is true for me when I attend large industry events. I see the cocktail party invitations and immediately feel a sense of dread. I am totally alone, I feel weird walking into a room filled with little groups of people who already know each other. Who will I talk to? I get the immediate urge to head right to my hotel room and order room service instead. And I usually do.
Then the next day I see everyone laughing and reminiscing about the cocktail party and feel sad that I missed out on the new connections. So this time I forced myself to go and I was really glad that I did. I met two people who will definitely be important contacts to help me to reach the next level in my online business.
So ask yourself what have you said no to that you wish you said yes to this year? And a much bigger questions what are you going to do about it?
Embrace change starting today and see how much bigger and better 2020 will be for you!
